Description
Video & Testing of a FreeBell LRS Backup Device
If the project is cancelled, I reimburse you!
Possibly destroying the FreeBell. The goal is to gather as much meaningful results as possible to make a public YouTube video.
Some climbers have said they would be willing to send money to see a video from me testing the FreeBell to destruction. By contributing, you are you are helping pay for the FreeBell.
You can donate in 26 CA$ increments by selecting corresponding rewards. Everyone will receive the same service from me. You can donnate 26 CA$ or the full 260 CA$, you will get my time to read your messages, an early email with the list of tests I plan to do, and a special email with the link to the published video!
I already ordered a FreeBell so I will be doing tests and likely publish content on my YouTube channel. For sure the FreeBell will be discussed at length in my Lead Rope Solo online course on blissclimbing.com .
With this campaign, I will go the extra mile:
- 1- Buy an extra FreeBell
- 2- Perform tests that could potentially destroy the device, but that are significant to the community
- 3- Publish a public YouTube video with these results
As you may know, my mission is to bring rope solo education to the world. And the FreeBell is a LRS (Lead Rope Solo) climbing backup device created by Ben Kitchen. For sure we want the FreeBell to be safe for the community so some break testing, additional to what Ben Kitchen already did, will be welcome.
As soon as I get the funds, I will pledge to get an extra FreeBell. Then I will take a week to elaborate a list of tests I will want to perform. Note that I can use a drop tower, a pull test machine and a few extra options. I believe creating the “window mod” (or widow mod) by Michael Rogers would be something nice to test with it. I might use ropes of different diameters from the 8.5mm (Beal Opera) to a 10.2mm (Mammut) I own. Testing could take 2 weeks from the day I receive the device. Also video editing could take 1 or 2 weeks. So the turnaround time for the publication of the video is a month starting the day I receive the device.
Budget: 260 CA$ to buy the FreeBell device. My time and the rest: I pay for it!
Deliverable: Each person contributing to this Kickstarter will receive an email with the link to the public YouTube video about the tests of the FreeBell. I will send another message to all contributors on the list of tests I plan to do about 2 weeks after I get the Funds. Contributors will be able to comment on them.
By the way, you can contact me if you have ideas of tests you want to see!!
Thank you for your support!
